Happy Birthday Paris

Happy 13th Birthday beautiful Paris!! Hard to believe that you've only been in YWs with us for a year now, cause you fit in so well we feel like you've been around alot longer :) You are always so loving, kind & considerate to others so we hope you get all that attention in return today :)

Our cultural month of April - a little taste of Samoa, Fiji & the Phillipines

In April we decided to learn a little bit more about some of the cultures in our ward so a few of our RS sisters were generous enough to come in & share with us their native culinary skills. 

For week 1 we had the lovely Sister Saena who taught us how to make delicious Panipopo (Coconut buns) & English pudding...............

And then for Week 2 we had Sister Ramirez, the gorgeous Cabaron family & a couple of their friends from Albany ward come in & show us the traditional filipino bamboo dance ('Tinikling') which everyone had a blast trying out!.....

This was followed by her showing us how to make yummy Banana lumpia (AKA turon or banana spring rolls)

Then in week 3 we had a little taste of Fiji with some beautiful curries & homemade roti taught to us by our very own resident masterchef, Sister Walters :)

So then after 3 weeks of being taught by the best, we split off into classes on the final week so put into practice the things that we'd learnt. The Beehives tried to recreate a little bit of Samoa :)....

The Miamiads took over the Phillipines...

And the Laurels whisked us back to tropical days in Fiji.....

All in all it was a really informative month & so cool to experience life through another culture's food - even if it was only for the night :) It's always so refreshing to try something different for a change! Lots of love & a huge big thank you to our special sisters who helped out! x

Happy Birthday Jenna!!!

Happy Birthday to our beautiful Jenna :) We feel so blessed to have you as part of our YWs team (even if it's only for a couple more weeks now :'( ) You are such a great example to us all & we hope your handsome hubby spoils you rotten today like you deserve!!!

- Jenna has one of the biggest hearts filled with love for her Young Women. I love that she stands as a witness of God at all times and that her testimony of our Savior shines through her. I love that she knows what she wants and is never afraid to say what she thinks. She is a kind, loving and caring daughter of our Heavenly Father. Happy Birthday Jenna have a awesome day.
